Lydia G. Cary was born on Nantucket on March 16, 1835 and died on the island on February 23, 1905. She was the daughter of James Cary and Margaret (Hussey) Cary. Her grandfather, James Cary, was the captain of the Rose, one of the most sucessful vessels in Nantucket's China trade between 1803 and 1807.
Designed exclusively for the Nantucket Historical Association. Adapted from a Sampler by Lydia G. Cary, 1845. Counted cross stitch. Finished size 8" x 12.5" on 28 count linen.
