View of Cliffside Beach with umbrellas. Jetties Beach is in the background, circa 1950.

Cliffside Beach Club has offered a private beach since 1958. There is a public way just beyond the umbrellas where families often bring their small children to play. Such easements are almost nonexistent on Martha’s Vineyard, with the result that much of its beautiful shoreline is closed to the public; Nantucket is fortunate to have a number still in place and the opportunity to protect them for future generations.Cliffside Beach Club has offered a private beach since 1958.
